Manager as Coach
A 2½ day AEC training programme to develop the coaching capabilities
of managers in-house.
Who is it for?
This is for organisations who want to equip
their line managers with the skills needed to get the best
out of people.
It is designed for managers with little or
no coaching experience.
What does it deliver?
The programme provides managers with
a range of coaching knowledge, tools and techniques to help
them maximise the performance of individuals and teams. Participants
will
- understand the benefits and disadvantages of different
styles of managing people
- recognise their own style
- develop their facilitation
skills and ability to conduct coaching
conversations with subordinates
- use their 'manager as coach'
style immediately, back in the workplace.
Scope
The programme covers the essential steps in building
effective coaching skills for management
- creating the foundation
for coaching
- developing the coaching relationship
- promoting understanding
- supporting others to achieve their
goals
- maintaining and improving professional skills
Style
The design of this two day plus half day experiential module draws
on the Kolb learning cycle of experience, reflection, theory
and action. It teaches basic skills and the GROW model.
These are then practised in coaching triads with coach,
coachee and observer.
The overall process is facilitated to
enable coaches to experiment, accept challenges and develop
skills and greater depths of understanding about how they
can use coaching to get the best out of their team.
