Personal Coach Supervision Sessions

The coaching supervision sessions are led by Marjorie Shackleton.

It is an opportunity for personal exploration through the focus on your attitudes and reactions to your clients. They offer a way to continuously develop and hone your skills.

Primary Objectives:

  1. Supporting the growth and development of the coach.
  2. Through the coaching supervision, supporting the clients and their work.
  3. Supporting the Gestalt approach of being, of developing presence so the coach acts as a powerful role model in his or her work.
  4. Developing new insights, tools and techniques for coaching interventions.
  5. Raising awareness of personal issues and how they limit your effectiveness.
  6. Breaking habits and changing behaviour at a fundamental level.
  7. Developing interpersonal sensitivity and skills to a deeper level.
  8. Developing a deeper understanding of Gestalt theory and philosophy.
  9. Understanding the differences between a therapeutic contract and a coaching contract and explore the boundaries between them.

Method

There are four methods that are used in the personal coaching supervision sessions to enhance the learning experience:

  • Focusing on the personal experience of the individual from a cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspect.
  • Identifying the parallel process, which occurs in the participant / supervisor interaction and the consultant / client experience. For example, around control issues, the coach may react towards the supervisor in the same way as the client reacts to them.
  • Using creative experimentation such as role-playing the coach / client situation.
  • Carrying out an ongoing review of work-based case studies.
