Coaching Chief Executives and Directors in the Art of Leadership

Using Gestalt tools and principles, Peter will increase awareness around the adages 'the bigger the front, the bigger the back' and ‘the more power directors have, the more they worry about their vulnerabilities’

.

A Unique Opportunity for You to:

  • Learn from Peter’s coaching demonstration using his Gestalt style and approach (he has over 12,000 hours of coaching at senior level).
  • Extend your expertise with tools and tips from seasoned practitioners.
  • Revisit your coaching model and include some of these transformational insights.
  • Understand how this approach would fit in an organisational and leadership context.

Structure of The Masterclasses

The programme is divided into two parts.

Part 1: 9am – 1pm

Peter as Master Coach will:

  • Outline his model and philosophical framework of practice
  • Present case examples of client work
  • Demonstrate his coaching practice and/or supervision with a participant as client
  • Discuss and debate theoretical and practitioner issues

Part 2: 2 – 4.30pm

Facilitated Peer Practice Groups

This is your opportunity, in a small facilitated peer group, to discuss the impact of the Master Coach input on your own theoretical and philosophical approach.

There will then be time to practice coaching with some of the techniques and methodologies that have been illustrated by Peter.

The Masterclass Subject

'The Bigger the Back, the Bigger the Front'

Leaders often cover up their insecurities by developing grandiose behaviours.  The workshop will support coaches to support leaders to differentiate themselves by having the courage to do what they think is right, no matter how unpopular the choice, and sometimes in the face of opposing majority opinion. Being a leader also confronts us with having to move beyond pure decision-making and leaving behind the myth that decisions are either right or wrong, and instead moving toward the realisation that we have to have the courage to make choices, and possess the stamina to live with their implications. The world then becomes a much more complex place, in which we are tested around our ability to live with ourselves rather than compromising ourselves to live with others.

The workshop will explore some of the myths of leadership, some of the facts of leadership, and more importantly, the experiences which shape leaders and will allow you to share some of your own defining moments that have stimulated and accelerated your growth as mature and responsible coaches. We will look at our ability to respond rather than to react and we will look at your courage to be proactive to stand up for what you believe, sometimes in the face of overwhelmingly contrary opinions.
