Manager as Coach - London

90% of organisations now expect their line managers to coach, but only 5% have trained all their managers for the role (CIPD survey on trends in learning and development).

Some managers are instinctive coaches, but all managers can develop the focus and the impact of their coaching by being given clear frameworks and tools to apply to the situations that occur on the job.

The AEC is introducing a new programme specifically designed to equip managers to coach as part of their role in performance delivery.

This programme is designed around the principles of Solution Focussed Thinking equips managers to deliver coaching in a way which is focused, action oriented, solution building and timely (FAST).

By attending the programme organisations will develop manager coaches who can:

  • Recognise opportunities to coach in the maelstrom of daily working life and grab them.
  • Deliver coaching outcomes in brief conversations.
  • Help staff to recognise the resources they can bring to problem solving rather than being stuck with the problem.
  • Support their staff in thinking through difficulties, and challenge them to see the issue from different perspectives

Skilfully apply techniques drawn from a range of coaching approaches to a wide range of job related challenges.

The programme is designed for:

  • Managers who are coaching staff but have had little preparation for the role.
  • Organisations who want to develop a cohort of coaches.
  • Managers who would like an introduction to coaching before taking on the responsibility.
