Master Practitioner in Executive Coaching - London

The Master Practitioner in Executive Coaching is a stand–alone programme of development for experienced executive coaches who wish to strengthen and deepen their practice to master practitioner level.

On completion of the programme you can undertake a Transition module and research work towards an M.A. Degree.

You are already a successful coach. Our objective for you on this programme is to develop and deepen your practice to Master coach level by:

  • Refining, modifying and developing your own personal coaching model to Master Practitioner standard;
  • Deepening your coaching presence and brining more of your authentic self into your relationships with your clients;
  • Receiving extremely high quality feedback on your practice and helping you develop your style, skills and new ways of working with your clients;
  • Understanding the complexities of the systemic nature of coaching;
  • Deepening your capacity for reflection on your practice and on your own process as a coach.

Qualifications

On successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded the Master Practitioner Diploma confirming that you are coaching at a competency level that is consistent with the International Coach Federation’s (ICF) Master Credentialed Coach (MCC) level of practice.

Core curriculum / Structure

1. Tutorials
At the start of your programme, you will have a personal tutorial with one of the faculty members to establish a Learning Plan for the Programme plus two further individual tutorials with a faculty member during the programme, to discuss and review learning.

2. Seven Masterclasses
You will attend seven one-day Masterclasses, where you will receive expert input, demonstrations and the opportunity to experiment yourself.

2008
21 Feb: Marjorie Shackleton - Coaching Supervision
23 Apr: Neela Bettridge - "Bringing Play into Your Practice": Working Creatively as a Coach
01 Jul: Aboodi Shabi - 'Coaching to the Soul': Transpersonal/Spiritual Coaching
22 Sep: Peter Burditt - Business and Leadership Coaching
17 Nov: John Leary-Joyce - Systemic Coaching though Constellations

2009
22 Jan: Andrew Buckley - Identifying & Working with Psychological Dysfunction: Coaching & Mental Health
03 Mar: David Wagstaff - Coaching through Major Change

Masterclasses 1-6 are each followed by a day comprising the 1/2 day Supervised Coaching Practice + 1/2 day Personal Development groups.

3. Six supervised coaching practice group sessions
You will attend 6 half-day supervised coaching practice group sessions led by a faculty member. These sessions provide practice as coach in a learning environment that provides discussion and feedback from fellow participants and faculty.

4. Six personal development group sessions
You will attend 6 half-day personal development group sessions led by a faculty member. These take place on the same day as the supervised practice groups, and on the day following the Masterclasses, thus making six coherent two-day modules, plus one additional Masterclass.

5. Assistant Faculty on Diploma or Advanced Diploma Programme
If you are not experienced in ‘delivering’ coach development, you will be given the opportunity of working alongside the Core Faculty to deliver the Diploma or Advanced Diploma Programme in executive coaching, primarily giving feedback on Triad practice sessions. Alternatively you may wish to find an equivalent project of your own.

6. Peer coaching work
You will co-coach with one of your colleagues for ten coaching sessions. You will be asked to include in your Learning Journey Reflections (see below) a short written piece that summarises your coaching journey with your peer-client, and what you have learnt about your practice along the way.

7. Peer exchange supervision
You will co-supervise with one of your colleagues for ten supervision sessions. Again you will be asked to include in your Learning Journey Reflections (see below) a written piece that summarises your supervision journey both as a supervisee and as a supervisor, and what you have learnt about your practice along the way.

8. Coaching commercial clients
You are expected to have a range of coaching clients throughout the programme. You will be asked to provide evidence of 54 hours of coaching, and produce written notes on your practice in your Learning Journey Reflections.

9. Deliver one Masterclass to the AEC Alumni
Part of your development as a Master Practitioner coach will be to move into the realm of contributing to the development of the profession of executive coaching. To this end, you are required to design and deliver one Masterclass as part of the AEC Alumni development programme.

This will be a two to three hour session (the time of day is your choice) on a topic that you feel is an area of expertise, and you will receive feedback from your audience. Once again you will be asked to include in your Learning Journey Reflections a written piece that summarises your experience of this process.

10. Personal study, further reading and the Learning Journey Reflections.
You are required to document your own learning journey throughout the programme, and to submit your Learning Journey Reflections (LJR) for assessment. The LJR tracks your learning and development during the programme.

11. Peer assessment
Peer review is a very important way of having your work under scrutiny and, as a result, showing that you take the quality of your work seriously. You will be required to assess the work of your colleagues in two ways:

Be part of a group viva process in assessing a number of your peers’ coaching models and frameworks;

Be the peer assessor of the coaching practice for one of your colleagues.

Likewise your work will be assessed in this way by your colleagues.
