Overview
A 2½ -3 day AoEC programme to enable leaders to explore and understand the application of coaching to their organisation and to subsequently model its use by engaging in supportive coaching conversations with their people.
Who is it for?
This is for leaders who wish to encourage a more facilitative style of management within their organisation and who wish to develop their own coaching style in order to support and model that.
It is designed for leaders with little or no formal coach training but who draw on leadership experience.
What does it deliver?
The programme provides leaders and senior managers with a range of coaching knowledge, tools and experience to facilitate their understanding of how they personally can use coaching to maximise the performance of others, and how such coaching practice can be developed within their organisation. Participants will:
- Experience and understand the uses, benefits and disadvantages of different styles of leading and managing people
- Recognise their own preferred style
- Develop their facilitation skills and their ability to conduct supportive and challenging coaching conversations with their people
- Be able to use the skills learned and their 'leader as coach' style immediately, back in the workplace.
- Understand how to promote coaching within the wider organisation
Scope
The programme ensures an understanding of the uses of a coaching style and covers the essential steps for conducting an effective coaching conversation
- Clarifying the purpose, goals and nature of coaching
- Structuring a session
- Developing and maintaining the coaching relationship
- Focussing others on the achievement of their goals
- Encouraging learning, self-understanding and self-responsibility
- Supporting individuals and groups through changes
Structure and style
The design of this two day plus a half / one day programme is highly experiential and is adjusted to suit the needs and experience of participants. It teaches basic coaching practice, skills and the GROW model which are practised in coaching triads with coach, coachee and observer.
The overall process is designed to enable participants to experiment, to accept challenges, to develop new skills and to deepen their understanding about how coaching can be used to get the best out of people.
