We welcome you to this Autumn newsletter with some wise words from George W Bush who gave the closing address at this year’s conference: The Coaching Spectrum. Individuals, Teams and Organisations.
He talked about his move into executive coaching, his contribution to the work of the new president, coaching his former White House staff, his coach training with the C.I.A, and his experience of executive coaches as a boy in Texas. He wholeheartedly supported the work of the AoEC within the business community.

For those who were unable to attend the conference we had a fascinating range of presentations which we invite you to download at www.aoec.com/confdownloads
This was also our biggest ever graduation ceremony with a total of 99 Intermediate and Advanced graduates coming from programmes in the UK, Croatia and Czech Republic. In the coming year we expect to have Advanced and/or Intermediate
programmes in Hungary, Poland, Bermuda and Kenya. The AoEC is rapidly becoming an international organisation!
Delegates were generous with their praise……..
"I got a massive amount of learning from the formal sessions and from the delegates. I really enjoyed the sessions especially on team coaching and especially the group break- out sessions, where I got real insight from this cadre of high powered coaches."
Dr John McGurk
CIPD
"Congratulations to you and the team on hosting a first class conference last Friday. All your attention to detail certainly paid off, as we were treated to some really valuable content along with a great format."

‘Is the coaching profession growing up?’
asks John Leary Joyce
CEO, AOEC
Every profession starts with its core of innovative and dedicated practitioners who identify the common ground, create standards and guidelines that distinguish them as special and separate from the rest, then eventually these standards become established as the rules by which inclusion/exclusion occurs, and finally, if there is enough motivation the government steps in and creates legislation and regulations.
Having been through this process with the Human Potential Movement that grew out of Maslow et al during the 1960s which became the Humanistic Psychology approach then Humanistic Psychotherapy I have firsthand experience of that evolution.
I firmly believe that the route taken by the Psychotherapy & Counselling profession will mirror that of the Coaching profession and all the signs are there to confirm this.

Check our website at www.aoec.com for news of the forthcoming non residential Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching and Master Practitioner Programme. See the current Coaching at Work magazine for further comments by John on the subject of Coach Education.
