Established in 2002, AoEC Scotland boasts a thriving and active Alumni pool of accredited coaches that are keen to continue to develop and network together to raise awareness of the power of coaching within organisations.

Meet The Team

Kay Young

Faculty

Based in Scotland, Kay is an executive coach and leadership consultant with public and private sector clients. She has 15 years international senior management experience.

Based in Scotland, Kay is an executive coach and leadership consultant with public and private sector clients. She has 15 years international senior management experience, including: working at NHS Board Director level; developing high profile executive coaching and leadership development programmes; tutoring for 15 years on a range of MBA programmes. Kay is a highly experienced, professional, and accredited coach; she has gained the Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching and the Master Coach Practitioner Diploma with the AoEC. She is passionate about learning and human growth; and in working with leaders, to enhance personal, leadership, team and organisational effectiveness. Kay is currently training in gestalt psychotherapy, with Edinburgh Gestalt Institute.

Sue Burston

Programme Manager

Sue joined the AoEC in 2007 and is the Programme Manager for our Coaching Skills Certificate and Practitioner Diploma programmes.

Sue joined the AoEC in 2007 and is the Programme Manager for our Coaching Skills Certificate and Practitioner Diploma programmes as well as being involved with our work in organisations and other ongoing projects.
Before joining the AoEC, Sue spent 19 years with the BBC in a number of finance and admin roles within the local, national and international Newsrooms. Here she gained invaluable experience of working with a wide range of people and situations and dealing with some very complex admin and finance systems.

Karen Smart

Head of Consultancy

Karen heads up our pool of consultants and welcomes enquiries from organisations who are looking to develop a coaching culture, however large or small. This includes One-to-One Coaching, Coaching for Teams, Training an internal pool of coaches or up-skilling managers or leaders in coaching skills.

Karen is the go-to person for organisations who wish to use coaching to generate positive change and business performance. She has a wealth of experience in supporting organisations to embrace coaching and coaching skills. Recent sector experience includes the following; financial services, professions, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, public sector, utilities and SMEs.

Mac Farquhar

Business Development – Scotland

Mac is co-Director of AoEC’s newest partner organisation, the Trusted Executive Foundation which was founded by author and executive coach John Blakey.  He is an Edinburgh-based executive leadership coach who is seamlessly combining his work on the Trusted Executive leadership development programme with the ambassadorial business development role for AoEC Scotland.

Mac began his career with BT where he progressed to senior manager level before pursuing his path as an independent coach and consultant. He is a certified management consultant and qualified emotional intelligence coach with many long-established connections in Scotland through his leadership and management of the Edinburgh Coaching Hub. Mac is also very proud to be the first licenced Challenging Coaching practitioner in Scotland, and one of the first Conversational Intelligence Coaches.
