Diploma in Intermediate Executive Coaching: London (formally Foundation Diploma)
This programme provides a solid grounding in the principles and practice of coaching.
3 x 2-day modules, plus assessment through Live Action Coaching Day. The programme is designed around the AoEC’s comprehensive coaching model of beginnings, middles and endings, to mirror the executive coaching process.

Training progression
Graduation from the Diploma in Intermediate Executive Coaching Programme provides you with a free entry process to the Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching Programme. This takes the form of a thorough coaching competency assessment leading to a robust learning plan.

1. Beginnings: engaging the client
- develop a clearer understanding of contracting with client, coach and sponsor
- study key coaching frameworks and models to clarify goals and objectives
- enhance your listening and questioning skills in practice sessions with direct feedback
- start to develop your own personal, unique coaching framework
- clarify your understanding of ethical guidelines and professional standards
- establish peer coaching relationships to promote coaching practice
2. Middles: deepening the understanding
- learn how to utilise consulting skills in a coaching context
- utilise systems thinking as a means to understand the client’s world
- assess your client's developmental and emotional needs
- clarify the boundaries of your personal coaching practice
- explore the nature of personal and professional change
- experience supervised coaching practice
- be alert to both explicit and tacit information and its impact on coaching outcome
- perform mid-term reviews with client and sponsor
- employ solutions-focused coaching tools to achieve client outcomes
3. Endings: successful review and closure
- understand how your own experience of organisations influences your approach
- discuss and practice coaching on a variety of frequent business issues such as
- alignment of goals between individuals, teams and organisation
- career transition
- overcoming poor or ineffective relationships with colleagues
- effective action planning
- provide organisational feedback in a way that respects the confidentiality of the client
- manage the ‘psychology of endings’, providing healthy closure for client, coach and sponsor

Equivalent to UG degree / NVQ5
ICF Qualification
ACSTH (Accredited Coach Specific Training Hours).
Represents 43 Coach Specific Training Hours (CSTH) towards the minimums required by ICF when applying by Portfolio Method for individual coach accreditation for ACC (Associate Certified Coach), PCC (Professional Certified Coach) or MCC (Master Certified Coach).

Assessment process
- completion of the three modules + LACD (Live Action Coaching Day) in sequence on a single programme
- an individual coaching tutorial after each module, to embed the personal learning and experience the process of being coached
- three peer coaching practice sessions to utilise and extend the skills learned on the workshops
- a short reflective essay after each module
- successful participation in and completion of the work for the Live Action Coaching Day, assessment, closure and ongoing development
- presentation of your unique and developing coaching framework and model
- submission of a written copy of your coaching framework
- reflective essay on your personal learning journey
- live demonstration of your coaching
- recommendation for ongoing study

Programme 34: £3,695 + VAT Programme 35 onwards: £3,795 + vat
Professional and Career Development Loans
are bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year’s relevant unpaid practical work). The Young People’s Learning Agency will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries. Faculty

Hazel Valentine Management consultant HAZEL has been working as an Independent Management Consultant, Trainer, Facilitator, Mentor and Coach since 1989. She worked as a Management Consultant with Ernst & Young in their Human Resources practice and Banking & Financial Services practice. Her career has involved her working in the Construction Industry, an American Oil and Gas Company, Recruitment, Head Hunting and Management Consultancy.
She has a wealth of experience in coaching and facilitating groups and has worked with all levels of management. Her consultancy work has involved her with Local Authorities, Financial Services, Life Assurance, Logistics, Manufacturing, Retail and Education.
She has completed a Masters Degree in Human Resource Strategy and Development having researched Action Learning in the Financial Services Industry and was a part-time visiting lecturer at the London Metropolitan University on the Masters programme.
She has a wide experience of coaching, supervising and mentoring people at all levels in both business and the voluntary sector in the UK and Europe. These experiences have been captured in The Performance Coach published by Gower December 2003. The Performance Coach is a fully accredited post graduate certificate in coaching awarded by Middlesex University.
She is currently a member of the faculty for The Academy of Executive Coaching and is Director of their Intermediate Diploma in Executive Coaching. She has a Diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching and is a professional accredited coach with the Academy.
Hazel was nominated for an award as Business Advisor of the Year with the Arts & Business Council South East in 2006.
Overview
Peter Wilson Consultant Coach
Peter is a highly experienced Executive Coach, facilitator and leadership development Consultant.
Peter cut his facilitation teeth representing UK business interests in the United Nations and gained unique insight into working with International and cross-cultural clients. Demand for his work has taken Peter to more than twenty countries in five continents where he has led workshops, presented at major global conferences and chaired international think tanks.
Peter has over fifteen years experience coaching, consulting and facilitating for government, inter-government and private sector companies - especially those in the IT and service industries.
Previous clients include American Express, BSkyB and Nestle. Having held two company directorships prior to setting up his own company, he has hands-on experience in leading highly skilled teams through periods of major change.
Peter loves to employ metaphor as a way of inspiring personal and professional growth. This provides a creative balance to Peter's systems, process and group dynamics training. Using these approaches, he focuses on working with senior executives to bring alignment between who they are and what they do.
Peter has a Diploma (Merit) in Advanced Executive Coaching with the Academy of Executive Coaching. He continues his relationship with the AoEC as a member of the coaching faculty. He has also taken leadership development training at Ashridge Business School and is a certified practitioner both in NLP and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. He also holds a Masters in International Policy from Bristol University, specialising in group dynamics and organisational change.
Peter lives near Greenwich in London with his wife and three children. He has a passion for photography, cooking and Spanish wine - though not necessarily in that order!
