AoEC East Africa

Since 2009, Career Connections, in partnership with the AoEC, has graduated over 120 Accredited Executive Coaches in East Africa through the AoEC Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching programme. This programme provides participants with an opportunity to develop as coaches using a blended learning environment that includes an interactive online platform. 

The programme is in the top 1% of executive coach training programmes accredited by all major global coach-accrediting bodies: Association for Coaching (AC), the International Coaching Federation (ICF), The European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), Association for Professional Executive Coaches  and Supervisors (APECS). Over 920 executives and managers have attended our programmes since 2009. We provide best practice coaching and coach training on the continent that positions coaching as a key developmental intervention for leaders in today’s ever changing talent market.

Teckie Karoki

Senior Consultant, Coaching Services

Teckie has diverse experience including advertising, marketing, consulting and communications in various industry sectors in Kenya and USA. Corporate experience prior to joining Career Connections include RYLA (USA) and Alorica (USA).

Teckie is in the process of completing her doctoral studies in Leadership and Management from Walden university (USA). Teckie’s qualifications include MBA (Marketing) -Kennesaw State University (USA), Bachelors in Business Administration (Daystar University) and she is in the process of completing the Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching (Academy of Executive Coaching-AoEC).

Sophie Bruas

Faculty

Sophie has developed her career in various international contexts for the past 20 years, leading large teams of individuals in multi-cultural settings. She graduated from the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC), UK in 2012 as an Executive Coach and is a co-faculty for the Academy to deliver internationally accredited coaching courses in East Africa.

Sophie is a certified Coach Supervisor, and a Professional Certified Executive Coach (PCC) accredited by the International Coaching Community (ICC). She holds a Masters in Human Resource Management and Development (with distinction) from Manchester University, UK.

Sophie’s approach is strongly influenced by the Co-active Coaching school that emphasizes the systemic perspective of coaching, highlighting that various facet of the client’s life (family, social network, physical environments) interact in motion and impact work decisions. She understands the challenges related to leaving, working, raising a family and developing a balanced fulfilling career and has developed an expertise in coaching across cultures. Her coaching focuses on supporting transitioning career decisions as well as balancing challenges related to international posting. In her facilitation work she displays passion in developing others and in ensuring that the skills gained are applied back at the workplace. Together with Career Connections she actively contributes to supporting organizations to go beyond creating a community of coaches to creating a culture of coaching.

Anyima Okundi

Faculty

Anyima is a practicing executive coach with a passion about coaching anyone striving to become more effective in his or her leadership roles.  She is keen about drawing out the star potential in future leaders and facilitating seasoned leaders to rediscover theirs and keep excelling.

Anyima is a multi-talented entrepreneur in the field of fashion, interior design, and accessory creations.  Anyima has run a successful design entity for the past 15 years, and as a director of her own firm, she has gained valuable experience working in multiple roles within an organization. Based on her entrepreneurial experience, Anyima understands and appreciates the leadership challenges that are common to those looking to build successful companies.

Anyima’s coaching style follows a five-stage framework that draws on the Solution Focused model as well as adopting the Co-Active coaching process. She is able to successfully work with her clients to anchor their star potential holistically by helping them to access and acknowledge the coaching issue, reflect deeper, articulate their expectations, anchor their potential and  commit  to the changes in all areas of their life.   Anyima uses various creative interventions in her practice to support her clients; this further enables the client to engage and connect with their thoughts at deeper levels as Anyima skillfully helps them to leverage their potential by listening, and holding them accountable to their discoveries and decisions.  Anyima is also interested in, and committed to, the development of leaders as they enhance their own coaching skills and grow in their leadership of others.
