FAQs

What is the difference between group and individual mentor coaching sessions?

Group sessions focus on shared learning with your peers through discussion, observed coaching, and group feedback. Individual sessions are tailored to your personal development needs and credential goals, providing focused, in-depth feedback from your mentor coach.

How is the programme structured to meet the ICF mentor coaching requirements?

The AoEC structure provides the required ten hours of mentor coaching over at least three months, combining both group (3x2 hours) and individual (4x1 hour) sessions. This is consistent with ICF’s requirement that mentor coaching span a minimum of three months and include at least three hours of one-to-one mentoring.

How long does the full programme take to complete?

Each cohort completes the programme over a minimum of three months, in line with ICF’s requirements for mentor coaching duration.

Who delivers the mentor coaching?

All mentor coaches are Professional Certified Coaches (PCC) credentialed by the ICF with significant experience supporting coaches at ACC and PCC levels.

What is the maximum group size and why?

Groups are limited to eight participants to create a collaborative yet personalised environment, ensuring all participants receive tailored feedback and opportunities to practise in observed sessions. The ICF permits up to ten participants for Group Mentor Coaching.

Can I join if I’m not currently pursuing an ICF credential?

Yes. While the programme fully meets credentialing requirements, it’s also designed for coaches seeking professional growth, skills refreshment, or reflective practice aligned with the ICF Core Competencies.

Is this programme suitable for ACC renewal?

Yes. ICF requires 10 hours of mentor coaching for credential renewal, which this programme provides.

How does this programme differ from supervision?

Mentor coaching is specifically focused on enhancing coaching competencies and performance against ICF standards, while supervision explores a coach’s wider professional, emotional, and systemic practice.

Are sessions held live on Zoom?

Yes, all sessions take place live on Zoom to allow for real-time interaction, observation, and feedback.

How are individual sessions scheduled?

Individual sessions are arranged at mutually agreed times between the participant and mentor coach for maximum flexibility.

What if I need to miss a session?

Participants are expected to attend all sessions; if a group or individual session is missed, make-up guidance will be provided and this will come at an additional cost. Participation is key to fulfilling ICF’s engagement expectations.

Can I move between cohorts if needed?

We understand that personal circumstances can change. Requests to move between cohorts will only be considered in exceptional situations and are subject to availability. To gain the full benefit of your mentor coaching experience, we encourage you to remain with your original cohort wherever possible. This helps you meet the required mentor coaching hours and get the richest experience from learning alongside your peers.

What time zones are sessions scheduled in?

Cohorts are generally scheduled in UK time, but international participants are welcome since the delivery is fully virtual.

What is included in the cost?

Tuition includes all group and individual mentor coaching sessions, feedback resources, and mentor coaching documentation required for credential applications.

Yes, participants receive documentation confirming completion of the full 10-hour programme with details of session dates and mentor coach credentials.

What if I need additional hours?

Additional mentor coaching sessions can be arranged individually with your mentor coach upon completion.

Does completion guarantee credential success?

While AoEC mentor coaching meets ICF requirements, credentialling depends on participants meeting overall ICF criteria, including coaching hours, successful completion of a performance evaluation, and a passing score on the ICF Credentialling Exam.
